So how was THE WILLOWS farm name and prefix selected?
The Willows has traveled around the country. We've been located in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, New Mexico, and Wisconsin. We're now in our permanent location in west central Ohio. At our first location, in Pennsylvania, the property had many willow trees. There were many small roads and very few road signs at this location. Whenever local folks wanted to give directions to our farm or someone near to us, they would say "Go down to the willows and make a turn." Thus, The Willows was named and the name has traveled with us. Each of our locations has had willow trees, even in New Mexico where we had desert willows. Our current location has several weeping willows as well as a dwarf pussy willow tree.
We will always strive to breed ponies of quality and athleticism that will find a home and purpose and make great show ponies, pets, and companions for years to come.
It is our hope and goal that The Willows ponies will have a positive impact and influence on the Welsh Mountain Pony now, and continuing into the future.
